Event Producer Personality Types: Which One Are You?

The Event U 18 June, 2014

The event production business tends to attract certain types of people. We generally see three event producer personality types in this industry: the creative type, the anal-retentive detail type, and the adrenaline junkie type. It’s important to know which one you are so you can surround yourself with the other two types.

THE CREATIVE TYPE

  • Out-of-the-box thinkers
  • Passionate about designs or fashion
  • Great visionaries who love to get their hands dirty
  • Capable of seeing things others cannot and changing their minds many times in the creative process
  • Fairly unorganized and not great with details and budgets
  • Not big fans of pressure or conflict
  • Focused on design more than practicality or common sense

THE ANAL-RETENTIVE TYPE

  • Great at taking notes, with pronounced administrative and organizational skills
  • Punctual and budget-conscious
  • Not very creative and tend to struggle with vision
  • More focused on common sense than design
  • Known to micromanage and show evidence of sleepless nights

ADRENALINE JUNKIES

  • Typically unaffected by pressure or deadlines
  • Known to overlook details, but rarely lack ideas
  • Not very sensitive- their feelings do not get hurt easily
  • Creative and enthusiastic
  • Willing to rise to any challenge- good or bad
  • Known to veer away from fiscal discipline and common sense from time to time
