The number one thing that distinguishes your event as unique is the décor.
At The Event U we stick to some décor basics that are sure to make any event a success.
Why is décor so important? Because no other element of your event can create a one-of-a-kind experience in the way that your décor can. If a guest were to walk in to the same venue at another time, they wouldn’t have the same feelings. They may not even know it’s the same space. This is why it’s so important to get it right.
An event’s décor includes all of the items you bring into a venue to change, disguise or enhance the appearance of the space. This includes themed draping, furniture, plants, table coverings, flowers, bars, and food station enhancements that should all look exceptional together. You may want to note that table coverings and centerpieces are often the focal point, so these should compliment your theme and the rest of the décor well.
Décor trends have dramatically changed over the years. Back in the 80s, themed parties were in style and we planned everything from The Great Gatsby and Miami Vice to casino, beach luau, and pirate themed parties regularly. As time moved forward, events became less flashy and more 3D where large sculptures became the focal points.
Those trends are all in the past. Today’s client wants something different that will really wow their guests. In order to get it right, you’ll want to stick with some basics to get started.
Use décor in the interior walls to create multiple food stations and seating areas. Click To Tweet6 Décor Basics for Any Event
1. The design of your event should be more architectural focused take into account the shape of the room and fixtures.
2. Clients like a restaurant or lounge feel with casual seating and a relaxed vibe that allows for easier movement around the room.
3. Entertainment shouldn’t be overwhelming. Keep it more in the background so that engaging in conversation is easy.
4. While 3D props are no longer prominent they can add to the décor when used correctly. Include them as accent pieces in the room, along walls.
5. If you’re planning a large gala be sure to place the décor along the perimeter walls so it doesn’t block the view to the stage or any video screens.
6. In parties with more flow, this is a different story. Use décor in the interior walls to create multiple food stations and seating areas.
BONUS TIP! Careful when placing décor in interior spaces and make sure the element is finished on all sides or you will need to get something else to hide the unfinished edges. Guests will wander around and check out what’s behind the props you’ve setup.
