The eight ideas that follow can\u2019t give\u00a0you more time, but they can help you make the most of what you\u2019ve got.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h4>Follow these tips to help you get\u2014and keep\u2014time on your side when planning an event.<\/h4>\n<p><strong>1. Place a Time Limit on Meetings.<\/strong> If you or others on your team tend to dread\u00a0meetings, maybe it\u2019s because they drag on too much and accomplish too little. Knowing\u00a0your meeting lasts only an hour or less should help keep things moving. Before each\u00a0meeting, decide on a limited number of topics to discuss and a limited time period for\u00a0discussing them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Set Deadlines and Beat Them.<\/strong> When you\u2019ve got a lot to do and not a lot of time to\u00a0do it, deadlines can help you to stay on schedule. Prioritize your tasks, and then draw\u00a0up a schedule for completing them. Don\u2019t make the mistake of waiting to start on a task\u00a0just because the deadline seems far away. Chances are, something will come up to fill\u00a0the extra time you think you have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Take Advantage of Your Peak Time.<\/strong> To be most efficient at the jobs you like least,\u00a0tackle them at the time of day when you feel most productive. Pay attention to your\u00a0moods and work output throughout the day to find out when you\u2019re most productive,\u00a0and save your worst jobs for when you\u2019re at your best.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Don\u2019t Overload on Overtime.<\/strong> If your workweek consistently exceeds a reasonable\u00a0number of hours (even more than the extended hours that most event planners work),\u00a0ask yourself why. Identify the tasks that take up the most time and look for ways to\u00a0complete them more efficiently. Also, compare the number of hours you\u2019re working to\u00a0what you\u2019re actually getting done.
